About the role

We’re looking for a hands-on Product Manager to help shape PinSpark’s direction and turn it into an experience people return to. You’ll work closely with the founder, engineering, and design to understand users, prioritize opportunities, and take features from discovery through launch and iteration.

A central challenge: deciding which story to tell, where and when to deliver it, and how to make the experience feel effortless.

This is a remote position for a candidate based in the United States, with a commitment of 20 hours per week. Compensation is $30–$50 USD per hour, depending on experience. Clear written communication, asynchronous collaboration, and independent execution are essential.

What you’ll own

  • Understand our users. Conduct interviews and real-world exploration sessions to identify our strongest audiences and use cases, from discovering familiar neighborhoods to visiting somewhere new.
  • Shape the exploration experience. Improve the journey from onboarding and location permissions to starting a trip, discovering nearby places, hearing or reading stories, and returning for another outing.
  • Define story quality. Establish what makes a story accurate, engaging, relevant, and easy to follow while moving. Partner with engineering on story selection, narration, personalization, language support, and variety.
  • Turn insight into shipped improvements. Build a focused roadmap, write clear requirements and acceptance criteria, and take features through launch and iteration. Make thoughtful decisions about scope and tradeoffs.
  • Measure what matters. Use behavioral data and direct feedback to understand activation, story engagement, satisfaction, repeat exploration, and retention. Design focused experiments and learn from their results.
  • Build value and trust. Evaluate membership, pass, and credit experiences that communicate value clearly and reliably deliver what users purchase.
  • Test beyond the screen. Work with engineering on the experience of background playback, location accuracy, connectivity, battery use, and interruptions from navigation or other audio apps.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience shipping and improving consumer mobile products, with concrete examples of your contribution and the results.
  • Strong product judgment: you can simplify complex experiences and explain why a feature matters to users.
  • Practical experience with user research, funnel analysis, prioritization, and experimentation.
  • Clear written communication and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and designers.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, limited resources, and changing evidence in an early-stage product.
  • Technical fluency to discuss AI quality, response time, reliability, and cost tradeoffs. Coding is not required.
  • Curiosity about places, culture, history, travel, or storytelling, and a willingness to test the product outdoors.
  • Based in the United States and available for 20 hours per week, with the ability to collaborate asynchronously and move work forward independently.

Experience with location-based apps, audio products, AI-generated content, subscriptions, or multilingual experiences would be valuable.

Your first 90 days

Working with the founder, you’ll prioritize outcomes such as:

  • Validate a priority audience and the situations where PinSpark offers the most value.
  • Establish a baseline for the journey from first trip to repeat use.
  • Ship focused improvements to onboarding, story discovery, or playback, and assess their impact.
  • Agree on practical story-quality standards and a recurring review process.
  • Build a roadmap grounded in user evidence, technical feasibility, and business goals.

Help shape what comes next.

Share your résumé or LinkedIn profile and a short example of a consumer product you helped improve. Tell us the problem, the decisions you owned, the tradeoffs you made, and what you learned from the outcome.
